2024 $50,000 School Bursary Program

 

Our $50,000 School Bursary Program enters it's 2nd year! Canterbury College, Browns Plains State High School, Flagstone State Community College, Mabel Park State High School, Marsden State High School Park Ridge State High School all took part in the voting competition. The schools then nomiated 8 students each for either Academic Excellence or Strength and Resilience. 


FINAL UPDATE:

Friday 13th September 2024

The 32 students were invited to our 2024 Community Grants presentation. All 32 students were awarded a $500 bursary for for their nomination with our Winner, Runners Up and CTA Training's Awards of Encouragement were presented. Congratulations to all the students!

OVERALL WINNER:

 $3,000 - Szonja Dobras-Vincze from Marsden State High School nominated for Academic Excellence.

Szonja is an accomplished rhythmic gymnast and a passionate advocate for student voices in education. As a year 12 student at Marsden High she actively contributes to shaping educational policies and advocating for student rights. Szonja’s dedication to making a difference extends beyond the gym, and her leadership role within the student council exemplifies her commitment to improving the education system. Keep an eye on Szonja as she continues to excel in gymnastics and advocate for positive change!


The $3,000 bursary will go towards educational expenses and Szonja has selected Defenders of Hope to receive $3,000 to support local families through domestic violence situations, homelessness and mental health.

RUNNER UPS:

$2,000 - Jacob Brindle from Park Ridge State High School nominated for Academic Excellence

 

Hearing impairment since birth has not let this stop him from pursuing his passions and excelling in everything he does. Jacob is exceptionally articulate and kind and has become school captain through perseverance and ability. He maintains a part time job while studying his passion for music

Jacob has nominated Miracle Babies Foundation to receive $2,000 sponsorship

$2,000 - Bailey James from Marsden State High School nominated for Strength & Resilience

 

Excelling in chosen ATAR subjects, part of the Music Excellence program and is a positive role model in the school. Bailey has been selected to represent Australia in competitive Hip Hop in Phoenix Arizona for which he will be paying his own way. Bailey has aspirations to become a High School Dance teacher.

Bailey has selected PA Research Foundation who has been supportive to his family and also the hospital his late mother worked at throughout her life.

$2,000 - Jasper Bolvaran from Browns Plains State High School nominated for Strength & Reslience

 

Despite significant family tragedy requiring Jasper to leave school and care for his siblings, Jasper was able to re-enroll and worked to become one of the school’s top academic students while working part time to financially support his family. Jasper is interested in engineering and computer science.

A donation has been made to Logan House treatment centre on behalf of Jasper.

$2,000 - Manahil Ahmed from Browns Plains State High School nominated for Academic Excellence

 

Coordinated a Senior Sleep Out as a reward for students who are engaging with school's learning program. She is the top performer academically in her grade and has aspirations in the Medical Imaging field, setting herself a target ATAR of 95.

Manahil has selected UNICEF to receive $2,000 sponsorship for their work with the Children of Gaza crisis.

CTA TRAINING'S AWARDS OF ENCOURAGEMENT

$500 - Olivia Symons from Flagstone State Community College

Olivia was very impressive with her genuine engagement working at the community café and giving back to the community.

$500 - Chagi Ouswatta Liyanage from Browns Plains State High School

He has received a number of Diamond Awards and when asked what advice he would share with other students he said "Success comes from trying hard, it won't be handed to you"

$500 - Shah Syed from Browns Plains State High School

Impressed us with his passion for helping farmers by creating an agricultural drone to assist with identification of threats, pests and disease.

 $500 - Charlotte Brockman from Park Ridge State High School

Working a casual job to pay her way through her Certificate III in Allied Health having already completed her Cert II & III in Health Support.

We are pleased to introduce you to the 2025 program. Partnering with Park Ridge State High School, Marsden State High School, Browns Plains State High School & Flagstone State Community College, this upcoming initiative aims to further recognise nominated students' from our parntering schools' accomplishments. We have now enhanced this program with an exciting Scholarship opportunity designed to support successful candidates through a Certificate III in Individual Support for Disabled and Aged Care at Park Ridge State High School's Health Hub assisting our community with job ready students at the completion of Year 12.

We had the first 16 students from Park Ridge State High School & Flagstone State Community College in for their interviews. Congratulations to all nominated students for your hard work! 32 students in total have been nominated for their Academic Excellence or Strength and Resilience.

Congratulations to our winning schools: Browns Plains State High SchoolFlagstone State Community CollegeMarsden State High School & Park Ridge State High School! Each school received $3,000 immediate sponsorship. The winning schools are to nominate 8 applicants to share in the remaining $38,000 bursary funds based on Academic & Excellence or Strength & Resilience.
