2023 COMMUNITY BENEFIT FOUNDATION RECIPIENTS

A total of $487,468 funds were donated in 2023


At Greenbank Services Club we pride ourselves on genuine community engagement. Our community support program encompasses our Community Benefit Foundation, Together We Rise Fund and Community Raffle Program which were establised to provide direct and immediate support to the local community from grass roots to major disaster relief. 

This support will provide direct funding to charitable, community, schools and sporting organisations helping improve community welfare and make our local communities a better place to live, work and play.

Applications  are welcome from eligible Not-for-Profit organisations that provide vital local services within the Brisbane Southside suburbs, which have a core focus in the areas of childhood/youth; people with disabilities; environmental care and social/community welfare.

Late 2022, we announced our new initiative to commence in 2023, which is the: Together We Rise $50,000 School Bursary Program.

 

$50,000 SCHOOL BURSARY

We saw 32 impressive future leaders from Park Ridge State High School, Marsden State High School, Browns Plains State High School & Flagstone State Community College nominated for either Academic Excellence or Strength & Resilience. ​ Thank you to CTA Training for their contribution of $2,000 and 4 awards of encouragement. 

 

WINNER!

 $3,000 - Chassidy Grime, School Captain of Park Ridge State High School was nominated for both Academic Excellence and Strength & Resilience. Chassidy impressively coordinated four events at her school to engage her peers in core subjects including maths, english and science and is pursuing a double degree in Business with aspirations of becoming a publisher. The $3,000 bursary will go towards educational expenses, with another $3,000 donated to Chassidy's chosen charity - St Vincent De Paul.

 

Runner up:
$2,000 - Charlotte Jackson from Park Ridge State High School nominated for Academic Excellence with $2,000 towards her chosen charity of Yalari - Educating and empowering indigenous children.

 

Runner up:
$2,000 - Eden Goydich from Flagstone State Community College nominated for Academic Excellence with $2,000 towards her chosen charity being Starlight Foundation.

 

Runner up:
$2,000 - Charlotte Farrell from Marsden State High School, nominated for Strength & Resilience. Charlotte has chosen Cerebal Palsy Alliance as her charity to receive a $2,000 donation.

 

Runner up:
$2,000 - Jack Houston from Browns Plains State High School, nominated for Academic Excellence and has chosen Animal Welfare League to receive a $2,000 donation.

SMART PUPS AND AUTISM QLD
$20,000 - Greenbank Services Club is sponsoring Smart Pup dog, Poppy! Poppy is a pure-bred Golden Retriever born at Smart Pups HQ on 24th May 2023. Poppy is friendly and enjoying her training. She is developing well with all her commands and skills.


When Poppy completes her training, she will be partnered with a child and family living with Autism.

$2,490 - To provide extra playground yard seating for their comfort, outdoor private study and sun safe requirements after the number of school enrollments has increased over 100.

MUSICALITY
$850 - The funds will go towards providing the team with new professional polos to wear when they visit the nursing homes of their clientele.

NGA MANU PUTOHE INC
$2,500 - This will part fund a cultural immersion 2 night youth camp for over 100 students. A fundamental part for many Māori students, whether they are preparing for the stage, learning the language, or simply trying to connect or reconnect.

5FOLD LIMITED
$5,000 - To cover construction material expenses for their expansion which will enhance their ability to serve the community effectively. 5FOLD works with children, families and individuals in Yarrabilba and surrounds who require financial support, skill development and more..

LOGAN CENTRAL RESPITE CENTRE
$2,000 - To purchase a new stove and oven for their centre kitchen. Morning teas, lunches and desserts, adhering to any dietary requirements, are prepared fresh daily for each of the clients who visit the centre.

CRESTMEAD STATE SCHOOL
$5,000 - The funds will provide struggling families with basic school necessities such as school uniforms, stationary, lunches etc As well as providing students involved in their "Season Of Growth" program with a journal who may be struggling with grief or loss.

AUSTRALIAN TECHNOLOGY & AGRICULTURAL COLLEGE
$9,736 - Purchase of sport equipment for disadvantaged children. Their program aims to promote physical activity, team collaboration and personal development.

ST VINCENT DE PAUL SOCIETY QLD - ST BERNADINE'S AND ST CATHERINE'S CONFERENCE
$5,000 - Purchase food vouchers for those currently enduring hardship.  In the 22-23 financial year they provided $29,000 in gift cards.

$2,500 - The funds will cover additional costs for bus trips bought about by rising fuel and labour costs.

$2,892 - The funds will go towards new flag poles, section flags and leather flag holders.

LIGHTHOUSE CARE
$4,808 - Purchase two display fridges for the Charity store in Hillcrest to better meet the needs of families and individuals that rely on this service. These two fridges will better assist families with cold store food products that they can access to help put food on the table.

YMCA SCHOOLS BREAKFAST PROGRAM
$5,704 - For the purchase of a ladder to ensure the safety of the warehouse team, as well as two fridges to store breakfasts they provide to school children.

QUEENSLAND WIND ORCHESTRA
$7,100- For the purchase of an EB Clarinet, an essential instrument in the wind band repertoire. As well as clip on music light stands for musicians to perform in darker settings such as Dawn Service on Anzac Day at Greenbank Services Club.

$5,000- The funds will towards the installation of an awning above the canteen area.

RODERICK ST COMMUNITY KINDEGARTEN
$9,514 - The funds will assists in the re-model of the kitchen and office area. Their current kitchen and office was fitted out in the 1970s.
